Poor Brother Only Inherits Old House of Rich Father, but then Something Incredible Happened!

The only thing that 54-year-old Simon gets out of his fathers' inheritance is an old house. His rich father has a lot more, but Simon never was his favorite. All his brothers and sister did was laughing at his face. But they lost their laughter when hearing what Simon found inside.

When Simon arrives at the family gathering where he and his siblings will discuss his father's inheritance, they immediately looked at him like he isn't supposed to be there. But Simon was determined to get at least something from his father, all his siblings had already had enough. Looking at Simon, his oldest sister says, "Okay, Simon, you can have the old vacation house".

Simon couldn't believe his ears, after all they got from him. And after everything Simon didn't get, they now give him an old crappy house. Which needed at least $50.000 of renovating costs before it could even be worth something. But he decided to take what he could get, it's at least something. 

Entering the house

When Simon entered the house, he didn't know where to start. Such a mess, so he decided to start at his old room. When he entered his room, something struck his mind. Will it still be there?!  After searching for a while, he found it. This is exactly what he needed right now!

When his family showed up six months later, Simon revealed to them what he had found. Their face expressions immediately changed, now they remember it. How could they've been so stupid... 

But what did Simon find in the house? What made them regret their decision, and why was Simon the Ugly Duckling of the family in the first place?

Wealthy family

Simon is the youngest kid in a family along with his 2 brothers and one sister. He grew up in a wealthy family, his father was the CEO of a big company which build buildings and then rented them as offices. When Simon grew up, his family was quite heartwarming, actually. 

Cute little Simon

His brothers and sister were very nice to him. Simon was the cute little brother everyone loved. They played with him, they taught him, and they did everything a normal family would do. But everything changed when his mom passed away when he was 8.

After his mother passed away

After the death of Simon's mother, Simon's father changed. For some reason, he couldn't stand Simon anymore. Simon never knew why his father changed after his mother passed away. As if his mother always stood up for him without him knowing, and after she was gone no one did that anymore. 

Mother's Funeral

The funeral of his mother was beautiful, but at the same time, there was also a dark side that kept living inside Simon's head forever. Something that made a huge impact on Simon as a kid. Because Simon was the only child of 4 who didn't get a new costume for the funeral...

Simon was left out

The children all need new costumes, because their old ones were fuzzy. But his father decided that there was only money for 3 new costumes, which was very weird because there was more than enough money. But one child wouldn't get a new costume. And for some reason he picked Simon to be left out...

No college

His father continued this weird behavior. For example, everyone went to college and only Simon couldn't go. He always made up stupid excuses when Simon asked for an explanation. Then he made Simon feel sorry about asking for explanations, it's the world upside down. 

Bad job

That's why Simon has a job which doesn't pay as well as the jobs of his brothers and sisters. With their degree, they got jobs as lawyer and doctor. And that's why he is poor, all because of him! All because of the distaste his father had for him...

Living the wealthy live

And in the meanwhile, Simon was hardly able to put food on the table and pay for the electric bills. Where his brothers and sisters lived, the wealthy live his father took care of. His sister lived in this penthouse with seaview. 

His father coming over

Simon lives in a small farm and his father visits him once a year. Not because he wants, but because he has to. Simon is still his son in the end. And if his father is coming over, he doesn't know how quick he needs to leave Simon again. 

Equality

But despite everything, Simon does enjoy life. He has a lovely wife and 2 lovely children, which grow up so fast now. Learning from the past, Simon does things completely different and treats his children equally. But the pain of how his father treated him never ended. 

Father became ill

As the years passed by, his father became ill, the day arrived the day he passed away. Simon wasn't even surprised he had to hear it as the last person of his whole family... He wasn't even sad for him... In the last past years, the sympathy with his father just faded away. 

Attending the funeral

Together with his wife, he went to his father's funeral. After the funeral of his father, he got invited by his brother and sister to discuss the inheritance of his old man. He was surprised by the invitation, he didn't expect them to be in such a giving and sharing mood.

Simon doubts

Simon doubted if he even should go. His father never loved him, so did he even want Simon to get anything? But when he thought about it more and more, he saw it as some mind of revenge. He would take everything he could get!

Horrible atmosphere

Once Simon arrived, the atmosphere in the room was horrible. His brothers and sister looked at him like he was nothing. And apparently they already split everything. Simon would get the old holiday home. He was furious!

Mad Simon

How could you do this to me?! Always, always, have I got less than you! And now you won't even count me as equal for the inheritance?! It enlightened a heavy discussion which went back and forth quite awhile. Everything that was bothering Simon in the past came out in that discussion. 

30 minute argument

They told him not to cry like a baby. The properties and stuff were divided by actual spent money. And the holiday house was worth a lot back in the days, so... After 30 minutes of arguing, he decided to take what he could get and take the house. He never wanted to see them again. 

Checking the house

He went over to the house to check it out, it was in horrible condition. But despite the condition of the house, the memories of his great childhood flashed through his mind. Almost every good and fun memory was with his beloved mother. 

Memories

He saw himself riding the swing, pushed by his mother. He saw himself walking hand in hand with her in the morning to get bread at the bakery. He saw them playing together... He gets tears in his eyes even thinking about it. If she knew how things turned out...

Entering the house

When he entered the house, it's a straight-up mess. It looked like someone broke into it and just demolished the place for fun. Or to look for something valuable. He decided to check his old room first. He doesn't know what lays ahead for him.

Entering his old room

When he enters his old room, he sees a lot he recognizes. Old ripped posters, his old bed, And then something struck his mind. When he sees the chimney that always stood in his room, he immediately wonders. Will it still be there?!

He starts looking for it

Slightly panicked he tears up his whole room if that was possible any further. Sweet revenge is what he's aiming for, but only if it's still here. He already sees the look on the face of his brothers and sisters. And then he remembers...

Behind his bed

Behind his bed. He suddenly knew that he had hidden it there at the time. Simon started pulling away the heavy bed frame, revealing some slightly damaged planks. After a bit of trying and pulling, it suddenly came loose, revealing what was behind it.

An old box

Simon's facial expression immediately changed when he saw that it was still there. He felt the weight of the world just fall off his shoulders as they carefully took the cardboard box out of the hole. But before he got the chance to open it, something happened...

Banging on door

Suddenly Simon hears loud banging on the door. He is frightened, did his brothers and sister change their minds? He quickly hides the box again just to be sure. When he then walks down the stairs, he sees two policemen standing in front of the door, one sheriff and one deputy.

Agressice Sheriff

Simon opened the door and asked if everything was okay. The police immediately ask Simon very aggressive questions before they even introduced themselves. What are you doing here?! Who are you?! How did you get the key of this house?! 

Explanation

All Simon could do was calmly answer the questions with the truth, he did nothing wrong. After explaining he inherited this house, the police calmed down. They told him that the neighbors called the police because nobody entered this house in 10 years, and they found it suspicious.

Confiscate the house

The cops tell Simon they understand about the inheritance, but also tell him that the government is trying to confiscate this house for over 4 years now. The only issue was that his dad was never recorded as the owner of the house, and they can't confiscate houses if they don't know who the owner is. 

Straight Away

Simon asked if he could still enter the house, but the answer of the cops was disappointing. Now that they got in touch with the legal owner. They will confiscate it right away, Simon tried to come up with arguments to enter the house one more time. But no... the cops won't let him. 

Nobody may know

Simon panicked straight away because nobody may know what was laying there. Nobody other than him needed to get it. Or else, his whole plan would fall in pieces, and he would never get his revenge on his brothers and sister. 

He needs a lawyer

What follows is a court battle whether Simon gets the house back or not. Simon never has been in court, so he needed a lawyer, and the only lawyer he knew was his brother! So Simon decided to give it a try, maybe he will do it for a "family rate", so he decided to call him.

Calling Peter

"Hey Peter, so about the house...". And Peter couldn't stop laughing for 5 minutes. Hahaha OMG buddy, is something wrong with that old piece of crap? Won't they let you have it now? It was very hard for Simon, but with something in the back of his mind he could control his temper. 

Just another case

After talking with his brother about the legal aspects of the case, Simon felt like it was "just another case" for Peter. The little hope Simon had for family rate costs was smashed away during that conversation. But since Simon had no other choice, Peter would be next to him in court. 

Tough battle

The battle was not easy, but his brother managed to win it for him. The house was the property of Simon again, IF he managed to renovate it within six months. If that's not the case, the government will still confiscate the property. But all Simon could think about was the item laying there...

Battle won

The legal battle which had a duration of one-month was won! Simon got the house back. Only one month and $5.000 in legal costs further. Which Simon was struggling with to pay, by the way. Not exactly a "family rate", $150 an hour. But now comes the best part. 

Gathering his wife and kids

Simon immediately gathered his wife and kids to take them with them on this special event. His wife was a bit confused about why Simon would be so happy about that house all of a sudden. Simon told her the worrying days would be over. 

His wife was worried

She had been stressing out with all the legal fees that just kept piling up in the past couple of months, and now Simon was suddenly excited that he was allowed to keep a house that he would HAVE to renovate for a ton of money. How was this good news?

Was it still there?

But Simon did not want to explain himself. All he wanted to do was take her to the house and show her why he was so happy. All the doubt about whether the item would still be in his room had faded away when he had laid eyes on the box...

It was still there

Simon nearly ran into the house. He could barely contain his excitement. He went back into his room and took the box out of the hiding place. Luckily, the officers had not searched the house in the month that he could not enter the property. Otherwise, they would have surely found it.  

An old display

He carefully put the box on one of the old tables and opened it. His wife had no idea what to expect and was still very much considering the possibility that he husband had lost his mind. But when he pulled out the display box, and she saw what was inside it, she could barely believe it. 

4 super expensive Rolexes

There were 4 Rolexes in there from brands that even she, who knew nothing about watches, could recognize as being expensive.  How did Simon know these were here, and how did this even happen like this? Then Simon started to explain. 

Taken from his father

Apparently, when he was an 8 years old boy, he had gotten into one of his, at that time, few big arguments with his father. He knew how much his father valued these watches so to take revenge on him, he took them out of his room at night and hid them behind his bed.

Afraid to admit it

He was planning on giving them back a couple of days later, but when his father noticed they were gone, he immediately called the police to report them stolen, and it all became a really big deal. Simon had been too scared to admit that he had them, and thus stayed quiet about it. 

Forgetting about them until now

Whe his mother died, the family did not go back to the house and Simon just completely forget about these watches being hidden behind his back. Until he recently set foot inside the house again. And now he could simply sell these watches and pay for the renovation of the house about 10 times over!

New family gathering

6 months after the awful family gathering where his brothers and sisters would split up the inheritance really unfair, Simon called for a new family gathering. His brothers and sister were surprised, did he not manage to renovate the house and does he need legal help AGAIN?!

Showing up at the house

When they showed up at the house, they started laughing AGAIN. Nothing changed in the house. They were a bit early because if the house was nicely renovated, they would flee the scene. They didn't want him to give him the joy of looking at his prime piece. But then Simon showed up, and their jaw fell to the ground. OMG, How did he pay for that?!

A comfortable life

Simon just smiled as he drove up the property in his brand new Bugatti, as he was not planning on telling them anything about the watches and the fact that he now had much, much more money than just what he had spent on the renovation. Simon ended up selling the house after that family gathering and is now living a comfortable life with his family.
